HAppy New Year to all my readers

Well I have just returned for Christmas away and saw first hand my Granddaughter, Freya using her kitchen. It was wonderful to watch her role playing and the amount of observation a two year old has on the world is startling! The lights (not the Christmas additions :) ) were a real success as was the tap and sink.

Here is a picture of her 'at work'. This must be one of the most successful (for me) projects yet undertaken and well worth the effort. One plea, please don't ask for one to be made. I have had several requests to date but to be honest the commercial viability is poor. Too many hours work to make it pay. Also my health restricts me and I have so many projects I want to make for the grandchild (children - our second is overdue at time of writing) I just don't have the time. Thats why I only make for my own grandchilden, sorry.

However if you want plans then thats a different matter, just email me and I will see what I can do.

Happy new year to you all.

Mike

Well the kitchen is finished – life can resume….

Sandy completed the curtains today and made a couple of curtain ties allowing me to screw in a couple of hooks, the last task. It has been the biggest project so far and Freya will wake up to it of the 5th December, I just hope she notices it! I will have to make her a work bench at some time though to balance the stereotyping!

Freya’s Kitchen takes shape and nears completition

I have been busy of late building a kitchen for Freya's birthday. I am also surprised at the range of accessories available down to plastic eggs in a box! The basis of the design is an MDF framework and is made in two parts. The top has to be separate as it needs to be transported to North Yorkshire from Devon is my wife's car!

This has meant that the electrics also have to have plugs to allow for easy separation. My disappointment is in the painted finish. I prefer spray paints but I choose to use DULUX trade quality paint and I don't get on with it! Still, its done now.

Making a set of Skittles for Freya

Wood Firefighter skittles for toddler

Wood Firefighter skittles for toddler Freya

Because I didn't feel up to the accuracy required with my model engineering and the crankshaft for a Seal engine, I decided to make a set of skittles for my granddaughter, Freya. I decided to make a set of six for the sack of her Mum and Dads backs. The stage I got to was to turn the six firefighters and start the painting process with child safety paint.

I am making a few videos to show the work and would really like your feedback on whether they are of any use so don't be shy, email me.
